"It's been one of the most difficult races of my time in Formula 1"

Charles Leclerc started the French Grand Prix from seventh place but dropped to P16 by the time the chequered flag came out. The Ferrari driver, who qualified on pole position in the last two Grands Prix, suggests his afternoon around Paul Ricard was "one of his most difficult races".

Struggling Ferrari

On the street circuits, the Ferrari car performed well. And on qualifying pace, the car works well. The same can't be said when the car is full of fuel. Leclerc fell backwards and reflects on the race in a conversation with Sky Sports.

"It's been one of the most difficult races of my time in Formula 1. I have been just struggling massively. Both cars have been struggling massively," said two-time Grand Prix winner Leclerc.

"We had like 5 or 6 laps on the tyres where we were quite good and competitive then even though we were taking care of the tyres they were degrading so much. So, we tried the second stop even knowing that we would be out of the points anyway. So, we just tried it and it was quite tricky. It was just a very bad race for us. We need to understand," he added.
