F1 LIVE | Who will be fastest in the final build-up to qualifying?

Saturday is qualifying day in France. But before the drivers decide who will be where on the grid, they'll get another hour of testing in the third free practice session. So far, Valtteri Bottas topped FP1 and Max Verstappen topped FP2.

What can Mercedes do at Paul Ricard?

Mercedes seem to be back after two poor results at Paul Ricard. Especially Valtteri Bottas who seems to have his Mercedes W12 under control and hopes to make a bid for his second pole position of 2021. To do so he will have to shake off Max Verstappen and teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Verstappen was just faster than the Finn in the second free practice, which makes it look like an exciting battle. Hamilton lacked a little bit of speed and finished 0.2 seconds away from the fastest time set by Verstappen.

Home race for Alpine

Alpine seems to be in very good shape in their home Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso finished as 'best of the rest' in the second free practice on P4 and his French teammate Esteban Ocon was found in sixth position. Only Charles Leclerc was between the two Alpine drivers.
