LIVE: Qualifying for the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix

2020-08-15 14:30:00 by Matt Gretton

The three free practice sessions are over and the drivers are going to start their real work. This afternoon we will find out who will start the race from pole position on Sunday. Can the Mercedes be beaten?

Who will take pole in Spain?

Mercedes seemed very strong during the training sessions on Friday and Saturday. Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas seemed much faster than their closest attacker Max Verstappen. It also seems quite clear that a third place for Verstappen is almost certain if nothing goes wrong. Behind him, however, it is very exciting. The Racing Points, Daniel Ricciardo and even Romain Grosjean's Haas seemed very fast in the Spanish heat. Alexander Albon hopes to find his form in qualifying and wants to be further up the starting grid this time.

Sergio Perez is back for Racing Point having recovered from coronavirus, taking his seat back from Nico Hulkenberg.
