Live FP2 | Formula 1 2019 Japanese Grand Prix - Can Ferrari bounce back? *closed*

Good morning! The second practice session ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix is coming up and you can keep yourself updated with our liveblog below! After the news of a cancelled qualifying session due to the incoming typhoon, this is the last bit of Formula 1 action until Sunday! 

Typhoon Hagibis doesn't like sport. Before it's even arrived, two major sporting events in Japan have been either delayed or postponed. Formula 1's qualifying session will now be on Sunday (2am BST) while England v France and New Zealand v Italy have been cancelled in The Rugby World Cup. 

What happened in FP1? 

Valtteri Bottas led a Mercedes one-two at Suzuka in Free Practice 1, with the German works team needing exactly that result on Sunday for them to clinch their sixth consecutive constructors' championship. The Silver Arrows were within a tenth of a second of each other with Lewis Hamilton in P2 but almost a full second quicker than Ferrari on Friday morning at Suzuka.

BREAKING: Qualifying in Japan officially moved to Sunday due to Typhoon Hagibis!

Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing finished the session in that order, with Bottas, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen all beating their respective teammates.

The session also featured Japanese driver Naoki Yamamoto, who occupied Pierre Gasly's STR14 for this session only, with the 31-year-old finishing 17th on the timesheets, a tenth of a second behind Toro Rosso's other driver in Daniil Kvyat.
