Marko: Gasly "lost it at the start"

2019-08-05 12:14:34 by Joseph Tyrrell

Helmut Marko believes Pierre Gasly's race was lost during the opening laps due to the number of places he lost, with the lack of overtaking places at the Hungaroring costing him.

Gasly finished sixth at the Hungarian Grand Prix but lost a number of places at the start of the race and he complained about grip following his P6.

With pressure mounting on the Frenchman, Marko has highlighted where his race went wrong, and it was over before it properly began.

"It is extremely difficult to overtake here," Marko told Motorsport-Magazin.

"At the start, he lost a number of positions and then nothing went. He is also not the best inhaler. You have seen other drivers how difficult it was to catch up.

"So yes, at the start he lost it."

Marko refused to comment on his future, adding: "We are now going into the summer vacation, we will see further later."
