Two months ahead of the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix, the local government has spent $59 million on a new paddock at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, which should be ready when the Formula 1 circus lands there.
A restoration was probably long overdue. The original paddock stemmed from the 1976 Olympics, which were held in Montréal. After 43 years, a new complex is being built.
The Canadian government and the city of Montréal have helped to fund the project, which cost around $59 million, or 45 million pounds.
The new building will feature three floors, with room for hospitality, the FIA and the media.
