Bottas breaks winless streak: "My best race ever"

Race winner Valtteri Bottas admitted that this was his best race ever, as the Finn broke his year-long winless streak for Mercedes in a dominant display, as he also took the bonus point for fastest lap.

Bottas started second but overtook Lewis Hamilton before the first corner of the race as the Brit was slow out of the gates.

Being interviewed by Martin Brundle immediately after the race, Bottas struggled for words, visibly overwhelmed by the occasion.

"I don't know what just happened," he said.

"I don't know what to say! It was definitely my best race ever. I felt so good and the car was so good.

"The start was really good. I just felt so good and everything was under control and the car was very good, I just need to enjoy today."

With 26 points, Bottas leads the championship after the opening race of the 2019 season, showing that he's still very much capable of putting pressure on Hamilton and the rest of the grid.
