Pierre Gasly is in an upbeat mood after a very good first test for him and Red Bull, with the only major problem being his spin on Tuesday afternoon.

The Frenchman made the step up from Toro Rosso to replace Daniel Ricciardo and team up with the highly rated Max Verstappen at the senior team.

Gasly put in a solid shift of 238 laps during his two testing days, and has revealed that the Honda engine is improved from last year.

He said: "So far it's been really good, we haven't pushed it flat out but already you can feel the performance has increased.

"Only good news from these four days. We need to keep working. The others are really fast, but at the moment we are testing a lot of things on our car.

"Now we need to understand what works best."

Gasly will have a tough job to compete with Verstappen this year, but if they work well as a team, maybe we could see a resurgent Red Bull winning multiple races?
