Hockenheim believes promoters are under represented

Following last week’s FOPA statement released by Formula 1 race promoters opposing the lack of input they have with Liberty Media and how they run the sport and now Hockenheim have thrown their opinion into the ring.

Hockenheim has hosted German Grand Prix’s since 1970 along with Nurburgring but from 2007 the German Grand Prix has only been staged at the 120,000 capacity venue.

Speaking to Auto Bild George Seiler, the Hockenheim chief said: “Little consideration is afforded Grand Prix race organisers.

“With regard to recent discussions, however, Hockenheim has been on the side of FOPA, as promoters are under-represented in key decisions for the future of Formula 1.”

Despite being critical of Liberty Media there is a positive spin, with Seiler insisting talks between the parties have been positive and discussion are ongoing.

“The discussions with Liberty Media have been constructive and is something we want to underline,” added Seiler.

FOPA are the organisation that represent circuit organisers and the statement was released late in January accusing Liberty Media not involving promoters enough when it came to key decisions leading to a lack of clarity.
