Montoya suggests Bottas "wasn't comfortable" with 2018 car

Former Formula 1 driver, Juan Pablo Montoya, suggests the difference between Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas last season could have been down to how each driver felt in the car.

He claims Hamilton felt comfortable in the car, while Bottas didn't. The Brit picked up his fifth world title, while Bottas limped through to finish fifth.

"It is much easier to make the difference if you feel comfortable in the car you are driving. It may just have been that Bottas did not feel at home in the new car and obviously Lewis did. Then you will soon see a big difference," Montoya told AS.

According to the former McLaren driver, the story of the 2019 Formula 1 season will depend on two questions. One regarding Honda and Red Bull's new partnership, while the other examines F1's current biggest rivalry.

"That is one of the two big questions that we will receive an answer to. If the Red Bull succeeds in achieving success with Honda, the team can also develop consistently enough if that is the case. The second question concerns Ferrari and Mercedes, namely which of the two will put the best car on the grid," he added.
