The FIA has reclarified there stance on track limits to the drivers ahead of qualifying. Turn 11 has been a contentious point however should any driver overstep the mark in that corner, they will see their time deleted in the session.

FIA race director Charlie Whiting issued a statement to teams that clarified the rulings on track limits for this weekend and the eleventh corner in particular, with many drivers running four wheels well over the edge of the apex in order to gain time.

"If a driver crosses the kerb on the exit of Turn 11 during qualifying and, as a result, no part of the car remains in contact with the red and white section of the kerb, the lap time of the driver concerned will be deleted by the stewards."

He also reminded drivers that should the same infraction occur during the race on Sunday, a penalty could be following if the driver is a repeat offender.

"During the race a black and white flag will be shown to any driver who clears the red and white section of the kerb three times.

"Any further occurrence will then be reported to the stewards. Each time any car clears the red and white section teams will be informed via the official messaging system."
