'Sainz to Alpine, operation at embryonic stage'

After five races, Alpine has only managed to score 14 points. The French team is already thinking of significant changes for the near future. Alpine could thus be thinking of a driver change, as they feel Esteban Ocon is not the leader they expected, and Pierre Gasly is far from being a top driver. So reports Spain's El Nacional.cat.

"The operation is still at an embryonic stage, although Sainz has already imposed a non-negotiable condition," the Spanish-language medium said. Ocon has had a seat with the French team since 2020 but is yet to have a great car. The Alpine driver has won one race, though.

Alpine has been fighting for the last spots in the points in recent years and on a good day, the French team is 'best of the rest'. Whether these rumours turn out to be true, we will find out soon enough. In any case, this Catalan newspaper sees it happening soon.
