McLaren boss Eric Boullier believes that the French Grand Prix will be one worth watching for fans, saying that the Paul Ricard circuit will be “challenging” for drivers and engineers alike.

Boullier’s home country is hosting a Grand Prix for the first time since 2008 and the 44-year old is relishing the chance to oversee a French GP for the first time in his career.

Paul Ricard has not been used as a circuit on the F1 calendar since 1990, but the facilities at the track in the South of France have been renovated to make it a viable host for a race.

"It’s been a long process since the campaign first began, but a worthwhile one, and I think we have the potential for some great racing there next weekend," he said.

"In addition, welcoming another Grand Prix to a European venue with such a rich heritage in Formula 1 as France is also very pleasing.”

Boullier also predicts a tough time for drivers on the famous circuit:

"By design this circuit is no mean feat, and it’ll certainly be both a challenging and exhilarating track for the engineers and drivers to get their heads around."
