Yet another infection in the paddock: Van Amersfoort misses Hughes

Van Amersfoort Racing will be without frontrunner Jake Hughes during the Grand Prix weekend in France. The Briton has tested positive for the coronavirus and will not be in action during the coming race.

That the corona virus is still a threat to the paddock becomes clear from a message from Van Amersfoort Racing. The Dutch team of Frits van Amersfoort announces on Twitter that the Brit tested positive for the virus. As a result Hughes will not participate in the weekend in France.

Beckmann jumps back in

David Beckmann has been called in as Hughes' replacement. Beckmann was also called up in Great Britain to replace the suspended Amaury Cordeel. Then he finished sixteenth and eighteenth. In Imola the German also came into action this year. Then he replaced Cem Bolukbasi with the Charouz team and finished eighth in the points during the main race.

For Van Amersfoort the loss of Hughes is a setback. The 28 year old driver scored the team's only points (26) and is considered the new team's frontrunner in the F2 class. Cordeel and Beckmann will now have to look after a surprise at Paul Ricard.
