Sainz had reservations over British GP weekend

It was a first pole position for Carlos Sainz this weekend. As he managed to come out quickest from a rain-soaked Silverstone circuit. Ferrari finished with cars on Pole and P3 for an overall great qualifying for the team, as it was only the reigning world champion that split the two prancing horses.

Sainz admits pole wasn't easy

"It was not easy at all." Sainz admits "That is why I was probably surprised on the radio because it is so difficult to keep this car on the track with these intermediate tyres with so much standing water that you have to give yourself some margin in places." explains the first time pole-sitter, "Also on the straights, I was losing some speed because I was running out of battery. So, I said probably not enough. It was enough." Sainz tells the press.

Sainz's reservations proved wrong

Sainz was reserved going into this weekend, which he explains is because "I think Monaco, Baku, Canada... those three weekends were already a step better than Barcelona for example. My biggest doubt was coming into Silverstone being a track quite similar to Barcelona. If I could translate that pace into Silverstone."
