The 2021 Formula One season was a controversial one with many protests from Red Bull Racing and Mercedes in the title race. During the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, Ferrari also came out with a protest against Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. The drivers were ultimately not penalized, but how did the stewards reach this verdict?
Perez drove to victory on Sunday in Monaco after overtaking Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz with his early pit stop. Verstappen also managed to gain a spot after Ferrari made a strategic blunder with Leclerc. As a result, the Dutchman is leading in the driver's championship and currently has a lead of nine points over Leclerc.

However, it seemed that Red Bull Racing's victory and P3 were in jeopardy, as Ferrari came out with a protest against the two drivers after the race. Perez and Verstappen would both have crossed the line when exiting the pit lane. In the end, the stewards decided to reject both protests, but why didn't Verstappen and Perez get a penalty?
