Mexican Grand Prix and F1 continue party atmosphere with DJ Kygo

At the Mexican Grand Prix, the podium celebrations don't take place near to the start/finish straight as per usual on the Formula 1 calendar. Instead, the three highest place finishers stop in the stadium section in the final sector of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriquez. Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing celebrated with confetti and renowed DJ Kygo played some music for the fans. 

Party in Mexico 

A festival atmosphere greeted the F1 drivers in Mexico City. Most of the fans were in support of Mexican-born Sergio Perez. Perez arrived at the circuit for the first time as a driver for a top team competiting for the World Championship title. The Mexican managed to lead the race and stand on the podium. As a result, the fans were in the mood to celebrate to DJ Kygo. 

Internationally renowned Norwegian DJ, songwriter and producer Kygo played live. The stage was built into the colourful podium overlooking the iconic Foro Sol area at the track, featuring artwork by local artist Lourdes Villagómez Kygo launched into his celebratory post-race set following Verstappen’s victory on Sunday. Kygo collaborated with Mexican singer, songwriter Sofia Reyes, Justin Jesso, Parson James as well as and eight violinists for his performance. 

Kygo, a Formula 1 fan himself spoke about his performance: "As a huge F1 fan, it’s a real privilege to be back in Mexico and performing at such an iconic race. The Foro Sol arena at the track, combined with the passion of the Mexican fans makes for an electric atmosphere. I wanted to do something that was worthy of the moment, to celebrate the race, but also people being able to come together again to enjoy live sport and music," he said.

"It was special to collaborate with such a talented singer like Sofia Reyes in her home nation for this performance, plus combining orchestral elements with the violins and cellos. All of this added additional layers to the music and therefore more depth to the sound in order to create a performance that was truly unique.”
