Max Verstappen is in a tough title fight for the first time in his F1 career this season. The Dutchman often had to watch Mercedes drive away, but this season those roles have been reversed. The Red Bull Racing driver currently leads the championship and has good chances of increasing his lead further at Monza.

Speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport Verstappen talks about whether he feels pressure, as leader of the drivers' classification. "It's not that big of a difference whether you're fighting for the title or not. I've always known that if I have a car I can win with, that I can fight for the title."

Enjoying without pressure

"Now I finally have that and I enjoy it too," the Dutchman acknowledges. According to him, it is not about winning every race. "What matters is that you get everything out of it every Sunday, regardless of whether you win or lose. With that in mind, I find that the pressure goes away."

"You have to believe in yourself and I have done that since I started here when I was seventeen. Otherwise, you can't be on the front row of the grid and have people around you that you trust," Verstappen concluded.
