Despite the fact that Ferrari has performed a lot better this season than last, former team principal Flavio Briatore is not satisfied with the performance of the Italian racing team. According to him the team should stop looking for excuses and focus on the races ahead.
"Ferrari's goal is next year. We're always talking about the next year. The season has just started and we're talking about the next year", the team boss began at Italian RAI. "And that's part of Ferrari's problem. Ferrari should actually be with the music. Instead, they have problems reaching third place."
"I don't think fighting for third or fourth place is good for your brand and your history", the former team boss insisted. Ferrari is currently ranked fourth in the constructors' championship. This is already a good step forward compared to 2020, when the team was stuck in sixth.
Battle at the front
Considering he can't cheer for the Scuderia, Briatore also sees the excitement of this season in the battle between Red Bull and Mercedes. He expects it to be a "great season", for the following reason: "Max Verstappen is a spectacular driver, a real top driver."
