Pierre Gasly will start the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in fifth, but it's not his best qualifying result around the circuit in Imola. Last season, the Frenchman started from fourth. Still, Gasly is left feeling extremely pleased to be behind only the front runners and Charles Leclerc

Amazing result

"I think it's an amazing qualifying. It's the second time that we qualifying in fifth position. To be that close to P4 only 5 hundredths. I think three or four hundredths from the top teams. It's a fantastic achievement for the team. I was happy with my lap," Gasly told Sky Sports.

"Managed to put a really strong lap and put ourselves in a good position for tomorrow. I am happy. Really happy with how we are building and extracting everything from qualifying. We have seen this weekend everyone closing the gap."

The same can't be said for his AlphaTauri teammate. Tsunoda crashed out of qualifying in Q1 and will start from the back of the grid. Looking at the damage, it is highly likely the Japanese driver will need new parts to his Honda powerunit.
