Lewis Hamilton will not be able to count on fans during his home race at Silverstone circuit this weekend, as the effects of the coronavirus will not allow an audience to join the races. Together with the police, the driver calls on fans to stay at home.

"I'm just trying to encourage people to keep their distance and stay at home," says Hamilton talking to Motorsport.com. "I understand that people want to come and hear the sound of cars from a distance alone. But if you're in a group, that's not wise. I wouldn't recommend that."

In front of the TV

Hamilton's advice follows the statements of Dennis Murray, chief of local police. According to Murray, there is limited access to the area around the circuit. "Formula 1 fans are not allowed to come close. They are obliged to watch the race in front of the TV, as millions of other fans do." There will be a lot of checks this weekend to maintain the measures around the Grand Prix of Great Britain.
