Brundle: Bottas has to find a way to "get into Hamilton's head"

Valtteri Bottas won the first Grand Prix of the season and that was a good start for the Finn, who has the strong ambition to become world champion. His biggest drawback is his teammate, because Lewis Hamilton was one size too big every time in recent years. After three races Bottas has already lost the lead in the championship and although it is still completely open, Bottas will have to find something to beat Hamilton.

False start in Hungary

In Hungary the Grand Prix for Bottas didn't start well with a false start within his starting box. He was spared a penalty, but he had to admit some places. In the end he didn't manage to pass Verstappen which resulted in third place. His biggest competitor, Hamilton, was able to drive away quickly from the start and drove to the finish at his leisure.

The season is still 'long', so a lot can change, but the gap that Bottas has mentally puts him in a worse position than two weeks ago when he was the leader. So Bottas will have to find something to fight Hamilton, otherwise the gap will get bigger and bigger. This is what Martin Brundle writes in his column at Sky Sports F1 after last weekend's race.

Ruined the day again

"Valtteri was pretty downbeat in the post-race interview, he'd been outpaced again by Lewis for a second consecutive weekend and had lost the championship lead. As I know well, there's always a Hamilton, Senna, or Schumacher or suchlike around to spoil your day."

With his lousy start it couldn't run any worse and third position was the best he could do. But to beat Hamilton something will have to happen, or as Brundle says: "He somehow needs to get into Lewis's head at Silverstone."
