The FIA are set to discuss the status of the 2020 Chinese Grand Prix later today with all 10 F1 teams, with the outbreak of the coronavirus in China meaning the race in Shanghai will likely have to be cancelled or postponed.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared a public health emergency last Thursday, with the coronavirus death tole at almost 500 with over 25.000 infected just in China.

Currently, the Chinese Grand Prix is set to take place on April 19th, two weeks after the inaugural Vietnamese Grand Prix on April 5th and two weeks ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix on May 3rd.

Other sporting events in China like the Sanya E-Prix, the Formula E race which was meant to be held in March, have already been postponed as the virus has yet to be contained.

The Shanghai Sports Federation has already put out a statement urging all sporting events to be cancelled until further notice.
