Multiple Mercedes World Championships were unimaginable but for one man...

Mercedes wrapped up another Drivers' and Constructors' Championship double last weekend, as Lewis Hamilton wrapped up the Drivers' edition with P2 in Austin. Toto Wolff has admitted it is still a bit surreal.

The Silver Arrows have been utterly dominant since 2014 with Hamilton front and centre, victorious in five of the last six seasons, his only blemish the 2016 season which was won by Nico Rosberg, but even that was a dominant Mercedes win.

This period of Mercedes control has been one of the most dominant eras in Formula 1 history and many will be expecting them to repeat their form in 2020. Despite their stranglehold on the World Championship Toto Wolff has admitted it wasn't originally expected to be so one-sided.

"I remember our first management off-site meeting in 2013 where we put our objectives on the wall -it was the first time we wrote down 'We want to fight for a championship'," Wolff said on the Mercedes website.

"But Aldo Costa said that we should be more ambitious and make it plural - championships.

"My first thought was that that's too far-fetched. But we ended up putting it on the wall. And here we are, almost seven years later, having won six double championships. I still pinch myself sometimes because I can't quite believe it."
