Daniel Ricciardo takes a new MGU-K after qualifying disqualification

Renault have changed Daniel Ricciardo's MGU-K after his disqualification from Saturday's qualifying session in Singapore. The Australian has picked up a penalty, but he was already due to start from the back of the grid.

The FIA discovered the Aussie was running an illegal MGU-K on his car, which gave the car more than the limit of 120 kW of hybrid power.

Exceeding the 120 kW you are allowed to feed the hybrid engine basically means you have more power than allowed. The MGU-K harvests energy when the car brakes and transforms this into extra power for the engine. Having more than the legal amount gives a driver, Ricciardo in this instance, an unfair advantage.

Ricciardo will run with a new engine but will use the same spec as before.
