Horner: "You soon saw that this would not be our race"

It wasn't the best weekend for Red Bull. Monza isn't the ideal circuit for the RB15 at the best of times, but with Max Verstappen starting at the back and damaging his front wing on the first lap it was never going to be easy. In the end, a P6 and P8 didn't turn out to be too bad.

"Both drivers have recovered well in what would be a difficult race. Alex quickly lost some places but ran into problems after a duel with Carlos Sainz. Because of this, he lost some extra places and he also got a five-second penalty. Then you know it will be a difficult day," says Horner in a statement from Red Bull.

"Alex then did well by becoming sixth and Max was just unlucky. You start already at the back and then you get damaged in the first chicane. As a result, he immediately had to hit the pits for a new nose, after which the Virtual Safety Car came. That was of course bad luck.

"Max still had some problems with the rev meter, which made catching up a bit difficult for him. However, that does not alter the fact that we are driving a nice catch-up race with two drivers and now we just have to look ahead. We can leave Europe behind and go to Singapore," Horner concludes.
