Alex Albon suffered a difficult race on Sunday at the Canadian Grand Prix, having his front wing chopped off at turn one and never recovering, eventually failing to finish the race.

Albon has been a surprise package of the F1 season, with many expecting him to struggle more than he has, but his performances have caught the eye. However, his Canadian Grand Prix weekend was not one of those.

Knocked out in Q2, Albon was squeezed into turn one and saw his front wing ripped off, spoiling his entire race, which ultimately finished earlier than he would have hoped.

He said: "We had some front wing damage at the start which pretty much put an end to my race.

"Maybe I could have braked later in the corner and Perez could have gone on the inside, but it is what it is. After that to be honest, the pace wasn’t so strong, so we need to have a look at that.

"I’ve been struggling a bit on the long runs this weekend, so we have some work to do to understand why.”
