Two races to face the chop before 2020?

Chase Carey has suggested that two races are likely to fall off the calendar before the 2020 season as he wants to keep the calendar to 21 races.

The Vietnamese and Dutch Grands Prix have been confirmed for next season, meaning that two races are set to drop off.

The Spanish, British, German and Mexican Grands Prix are out of a contract at the end of this year, so it is likely to be two of those that disappear.

“I think it’s important to have a little novelty in our calendar, but we do not want to mess things up every year,” Carey told La Presse in Montreal.

“We are proud to have lasting relationships with many promoters and the goal is to build long-term partnerships.

“As for the number of Grands Prix, we will take our time before increasing that. If we have two new events next season, the number of the events will remain stable.”
