Daniel Ricciardo is “curious” to return to Monaco with Renault, a year after his most recent Formula 1 win which saw him claim a famous win from pole with Red Bull.

Ricciardo was considered favourite to win the Monaco Grand Prix in 2018 along with his teammate Max Verstappen. Verstappen finished ninth but the Australian secured a win from pole despite suffering power loss due to an MGU-K issue, his most recent victory in the pinnacle of motorsport.

Ahead of the race this weekend in Monte Carlo, Ricciardo admitted he’s interested as to how the race will feel in his new Renault.

"I am very curious to go to Monaco. I am curious about how it feels. I look forward to going back because I have always loved the circuit," Ricciardo said.

“I am optimistic that I can drive the way I want and that I can get the car further forward than normal, or that top 6 or top 5 means, we will see.

"I think we are driving in Baku with little downforce and a stiffer car, Monaco is fairly unique, but I think the most important thing is trust.

“All I want on Thursday is to have faith in the car, the curbstones can attack and brakes I want to brake. If I succeed, I think I am able to do something.”
