Schumacher set for Ferrari test snub in favour of Illot

Mick Schumacher could be set to miss out on another Ferrari test after debuting for the team in the post-race Bahrain tests earlier this month.

Schumacher impressed many at Ferrari who drew comparisons between him and his seven-time world champion father Michael.

However, despite the positive impression he made, Schumacher could be set to miss out on another test with the team in favour of fellow Ferrari Academy driver, Callum Illot.

Illot, who is also racing in Formula 2 this season, made his F1 testing debut at the same Bahrain test with Alfa Romeo.

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto admitted that, while the test had been positive for Mick, the Italian team could look at putting Illot behind the wheel during the next test.

"Mick, who we welcomed to the academy in January, and Callum, who has been with us since 2017, are certainly developing drivers and I am convinced that trying the SF90 in the Bahrain and Barcelona tests can be very useful at this stage of their careers," he told Autosprint.
