Daniil Kvyat was certainly a controversial figure during his first spell in F1 but following a year at Ferrari, Jody Egginton is confident the Toro Rosso driver has matured.

Kvyat returns to Toro Rosso having been dropped for the 2018 season having been apart of the Red Bull team as recently as 2016, where he achieved two podiums.

The Russian comes back into the F1 fold in 2019 teaming up with Alexander Albon at Red Bull’s sister team.

Jody Egginton is confident the year out at Ferrari has helped Kvyat and the rewards have been reaped in pre-season testing.

“He spent a lot of time in the simulator at Ferrari and that is a benefit to us,” Egginton said.

“When a driver comes back after a time away, he has new experiences and a new view, and also Dany’s time away he’s had time to reflect on a few things and really focus.

“His feedback has been really useful because he has good references from his former times with us.”

Kvyat has been involved in plenty of controversies in the past but he seems to have a new lease of life this season.

“He is fanatically motivated and he is doing a really good job,” added Egginton.
