Ocon: "I want to be world champion one day"

Esteban Ocon has maintained he is fully focused on Formula 1 despite admitting he may have to look further afield in 2020.

Ocon was left without a drive after Lance Stroll took his place at Force India following his father leading the consortium that bought the team over the summer of 2018.

Ocon now sits as Mercedes reserve driver and believes focusing on F1 is the right decision.

"Of course it's not great not to compete this season, but I'm still focused on F1 and I think it's the right choice.” Said Ocon to Auto Hebdo.

"I want to be world champion one day.

“It's my goal and my dream.”

Many people believe Ocon could be the man to replace Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes if the team don’t renew the Finn’s contract at the end of the season.

The Frenchman confirmed his commitment to the team saying: “I will be present at all the Grand Prix.

"I must stay on the page and informed of everything that happens in case I have to return at one time or another.

"You never know what the future holds in F1."
