Toro Rosso willing to help Red Bull win in 2019

Toro Rosso could be lending a helping hand to their senior team Red Bull in 2019. The Milton-Keynes based outfit will switch to Honda power next season and could use Toro Rosso as support after spending 2018 adapting to the Japanese manufacturer's power unit.

Red Bull has been the parent team of Toro Rosso since their debut in 2005. Used as a testing ground for Red Bull junior drivers in F1, the 'smaller' team could be used once again to make gains in the developmental race against Mercedes and Ferrari.

Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost revealed that the team could be used as a test team for Red Bull next year as the four-time constructors' champions look to get back to winning ways.

“We won’t have to have internal discussions about that; that’s part of our approach.

“If we can help Red Bull win the title by being the guinea pig in terms of developments, then that’ll happen.”

Tost also added that the team could get access to inside knowledge and parts from Red Bull as part of the arrangement.

“We’re happier with this role because we’ll see the fruits of our labour as well.

“Not only in terms of the engine, but we’ll have advantages in other aspects as well because of the partnership between Honda and Red Bull.

“The full backside of the RB15 will come our way as well.”
