Modern F1 cars leave drivers "blind" says Magnussen

Kevin Magnussen has hit back after being branded a "f***ing dangerous" driver by Sauber boss Fred Vasseur last weekend. Magnussen cut across the track taking out Charles Leclerc's front wing. The Haas driver claims F1 drivers are left "blind" from traffic behind in the modern cars.

Both drivers retired following the crash. K-Mag managed to avoid any penalty despite Charlie Whiting believing he should have picked up some sort of sanction.

Magnussen, 26, went on to admit he was wrong. But he was quick to find an excuse.

"I have to say I think he [Whiting] was right to change his opinion because it was too late that I moved over," Magnussen said in an interview on GPfans.

"But the problem is that you can't see the guy behind you until he moves. Then you can see him. That's a problem that we need to fix altogether. You've got the rear wing so when the guy's right behind you, you don't see."

With changes to the cars coming soon, you'd expect something to be done. Sebastian Vettel was caught out in Austria with a similar problem. Perhaps Magnussen's latest outburst will force some changes.

"These cars are really bad. You can only see when he's at an angle so either in a corner or off-set. Right behind you, you're blind," added Magnussen.
