Vettel: Lack of "confidence" in the wet hindered Ferrari's chances

Sebastian Vettel was favourite to start tomorrow's Grand Prix on pole, but a wet qualifying session ruined all predictions. The German is confident he can get the most of the car in dry conditions tomorrow.

Wet weather running at full speed has been limited throughout the season so far. The four-time world champion admitted the Ferrari are low in confidence in the wet.

“I don’t think there was an awful lot missing," Vettel insisted. "But we weren't quick enough,” Vettel said to F1i.

“I think it was difficult in the wet and difficult to squeeze everything out of the car. I think the laps that I had were fine, but just not quick enough.

"In the wet conditions we are not as confident as in the dry, so there's some work to do."

Luckily for Vettel, who will be chasing after Hamilton tomorrow, the dry conditions are expected to return. The German went on to note how this gives him hope of winning tomorrow.

"I think in the dry we were pretty much in control. Obviously, it wasn’t dry this afternoon, so it wasn’t meant to be.

"But we will see tomorrow. Obviously, as the race is long so we will see what we can do," he added.
