All eyes are currently on Red Bull Racing and the FIA as Formula 1 awaits the end of the budget cap saga. After the first free practice session in Austin, Christian Horner and Mohammed Ben Sulayem met for a long-awaited conversation.

Meeting between Horner and FIA at last

The meeting came after Red Bull Racing reportedly announced a press conference for Friday morning at the Circuit of the Americas. According to Sky Sports, Horner was to go into detail about the issue surrounding the budget cap, but the press conference was reportedly later called off again. This after it became clear that a meeting between Red Bull and the FIA was desired before bringing anything out.

However, communication still seemed to be strained, as the scheduled meeting was reportedly postponed a couple of times. After the end of the first free practice session for the US Grand Prix, the meeting did come about, De Telegraaf journalist Erik van Haren reported.

Horner was spotted in FIA boss Ben Sulayem's office after the session, where the two spent 15 minutes in conversation. After this, they walked together back to the Red Bull garage, where the conversation continued for several minutes. The two parties certainly don't seem to be close to an agreement yet, as the FIA boss announced on leaving that he would return later.
