Brendon Hartley has had a difficult season so far, but the New Zealander is expecting to have some fun in Monaco on the hypersoft tyres.

The pink striped tyre is making its debut in Monaco and lap times are expected to be at a record low at the track.

Hartley scored his first point in the sport in Azerbaijan but failed to add to his tally in Spain so will be hoping for a positive result on his Monaco GP debut.

He is lagging behind team mate Pierre Gasly, who has 12 points due to his terrific fourth place finish in Bahrain.

Hartley tested the hypersoft in Barcelona and believes it is a good tyre for the Monaco track.

“In Monaco you have a lot less degradation anyway than a track like Barcelona.

“It will be entertaining to have so much grip around one lap in Monaco. I don’t suspect the drop-off will be as big as at other tracks.

“It’s very low on tyre degradation. I think all the drivers are happy we have it, because qualifying will be very fun.”
