The Austrian Grand Prix was again well attended this season. Stefano Domenicali was one of those present. The Formula 1 boss spoke to the press afterwards and said in conversation with De Telegraaf that the respect for the drivers was positive for him.

While Max Verstappen was met with whistles last weekend at Silverstone when he finished the race victorious, the situation was reversed on Friday during qualifying. When Lewis Hamilton crashed his car, there were rumours of clapping from the grandstands.

The fear was that this would continue throughout the weekend, but according to Domenicali this was not the case. He told the Dutch media that Hamilton was supported by the spectators after achieving third place. "The whole top three were cheered by the fans," the Italian stated. "That shows that the drivers are getting the respect they deserve."

Positive weekend for Mercedes in Austria

Hamilton came in over forty seconds later than Charles Leclerc who was Sunday's winner. Nevertheless, Mercedes could be satisfied with the result. George Russell was also good for fourth place, which once again gave the team a lot of points.
