For Fernando Alonso, his qualifying at the Monaco Grand Prix ended abruptly by crashing hard into the wall. Afterwards, in conversation with Sky Sports, he decided to apologize to his team.

The Spaniard performed satisfactorily in Monaco, surviving the first two laps and then setting a seventh time with 1:12:560. However, he did not make it to the end of qualifying on track, as he crashed his Alpine in Q3.

"If you lose concentration in Monaco, even if it's only for a second, it can have a big impact, so I apologise to the team," he then let it be known in conversation with the English medium. "We have to wait and see if it rains tomorrow because it could be very chaotic, with a lot of safety cars and red flags. If it rains, I'm sure it will be great to watch on TV, but it is also very stressful in the car."

Alonso performed better than Ocon

His teammate Esteban Ocon also managed to reach Q3, but was then exactly eight tenths slower than Alonso. As a result, the Frenchman will start Sunday afternoon's race from tenth place, just behind Sebastian Vettel.
