On Saturday morning, news came that there are not four, but three DRS zones this weekend in Melbourne. The race committee decided to do so because there was one complaint from the drivers' or teams' side. Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko let it be known clearly that they do not agree with the decision taken.

"I don't really understand why they have removed that now. It's much safer than what we do in Jeddah, for example. It's a mystery to me," Verstappen said at the press conference, which included Motorsport-Magazin.com. According to the 24-year-old Formula One driver, only one driver specifically asked the FIA to make this adjustment.

Charles Leclerc, at least, is. The Ferrari reportedly did struggle considerably with the bouncing of the car at turn nine, but the Monegasque refuted that he was responsible for the removal of the DRS zone."I haven't spoken about it."

Marko balks at FIA

Helmut Marko is able to report to Sky 's German branch that it was Alpine that had lodged an objection. "I think it's a very strange decision to change [it because of only one team]. It's a shame, because of course it takes away some of the attractiveness in terms of overtaking," the Red Bull advisor said.
