Since the MotoGP race in the United States in early October, several riders have expressed concerns about the state of the asphalt. The MotoGP riders were unhappy with the high number of bumps, a known problem on the circuit which has worsened this year. As a result of the complaints, parts of the track have been resurfaced.

It concerns the end of the pit lane, from the pit exit to turn 1. In addition, the section between turns 9 and 10 was also repaired, as was the exit from turn 11. Finally, a longer section between turn 15 and turn 19 was resurfaced.

In addition to the local new asphalt, the lower track surface will be milled between turns 2 and 3. The same goes for turns 4, 6, 10 and 14. The FIA reports the repair works on the official website.

It remains to be seen how much the work will help. The asphalt of the Circuit of the Americas has a long history of problems, given the geological soil the circuit is built on.
