The FIA handed out several penalties during the Turkish Grand Prix. Both Pierre Gasly and Fernando Alonso received a five second time penalty for causing a collision. Both drivers also received penalty points for the incidents.

At the start it already went wrong between Gasly and Alonso. In the first corner the Spaniard was hit by Gasly's car, causing him to spin. The FIA found that Gasly was responsible for the spin, despite the Frenchman having no room to swerve. Over the board radio called out in frustration that he had been 'sandwiched'.

The incident put Alonso at the back and in the process he collided with Mick Schumacher. This time Alonso himself was to blame according to the FIA. In the end, the Alpine driver and AlphaTauri driver both received a five second penalty. Gasly managed to finish in sixth place, while Alonso crossed the line in sixteenth place.

Two penalty points on super license

Both men will receive two penalty points on their super license, reports PlanetF1.com. They are the first penalty points for Alonso since the current twelve-month period. Gasly now has a total of three. It has no further consequences for the drivers. Only with twelve points or more a suspension for at least one race follows.
