The fight for the constructors' title is not the only exciting part of this year's championship, but the battle for the midfield is also very intersting. On Sundays in particular drivers from the relevant teams can stand out from the rest of the field, something that the much more experienced Fernando Alonso has long recognised.
"I think we are doing well in all respects," the Spaniard argues to Motorsport-Total. "We may not have a car that is on par with AlphaTauri or Aston Martin, but we can fight with them on Sundays and get points." Alpine is currently fifth in the championship, trailing Ferrari by some six points.
Consistent in the points
Alonso sees the fact that both him and Esteban Ocon are consistently in the points as the driving force behind the team. "That we still scored points is of course fantastic. That seems to be the strength of our team: taking the points on Sunday,"
Alonso continued: "We probably don't have the fastest car in midfield, but we probably have the best team in midfield. That's why we score points every Sunday."
