Leclerc admits he is disappointed with qualifying

Charles Leclerc accepts that he was left frustrated after qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a session that saw him finish in ninth. After a disappointing end to his race last weekend, Leclerc was looking to make up for it at the last qualifying event of the season, but he could only manage P9, which will become P12 after his grid drop for last week's collision with Sergio Perez.

He told Sky Sports after the session: "Yes, I am [disappointed]. From Q1 to Q2 it was a nice progression but then in Q3 we lost it a little bit. I have no explanations yet. Because I couldn't finish the last sector with the rear tyres because before that it was going well.

"We have been competitive in FP2 even though it was not such a good long run because of the red flag but it felt quite good. The tyre temperature will be important and hopefully we can manage it quite well."
