Jos Verstappen has invested heavily in the karting career of his son Max Verstappen, so that he can reach the top of motorsport. Kees van de Grint remembers how that went in the days when Max Verstappen was still in karting.
Always testing
According to van de Grint, nothing stood in the way of the Verstappens to start testing with karts. "They were crazy," says the former Ferrari tyre expert at the Ziggo Sport F1 Café about father and son Jos and Max.
"We tested in Wackersdorf near Munich. A pit stop test for karting. It ended on Wednesday. They are indeed driving home. Then Jos reads on the weather forecast in Limburg that it is going to rain on Friday. They drive those 800 kilometres back, to test in the rain on that track!"
