With Max Verstappen on the circuit something always happens. This was also the case on Friday in Portimao, when he came into contact with Lance Stroll's Racing Point. With this action, Verstappen gets some criticism.

Including former designer and technical director Gary Anderson. According to him, Verstappen could have assessed the situation better. "The reason Max didn't get past Stroll was that Stroll's DRS was open. That should have been an indication that Stroll wouldn't slow down," he says to Sky Sports.

Verstappen clearly guilty

The race management finally decided that it was mainly a misunderstanding between the two drivers and did not proceed to a penalty, but Anderson thinks that Verstappen gets away with it well. For him, it is obvious who should have applied the brakes here.

"Who is guilty? If you imagine that the finish line is at the entry of turn 1, who would have won the race? Right, I think that answers that question. It indicates that Max is fortunate that he did not receive a penalty for this".
