Andy Cowell does some more work for Mercedes and Daimler AG, but he leaves the Mercedes Formula 1 team. According to the rumours, he is not linked as an engine engineering at Aston Martin.
Cowell leaves Mercedes by mutual consent. Cowell has done a fantastic job in recent years as one of the most important pawns in the success of the Mercedes engine. Toto Wolff himself said that it would be difficult to replace a person who revolved around so much in the engine department.
Leaving Mercedes
Cowell leaves with the main reason he's looking for a new challenge. The engineer wants something new and according to Formule1.de that could be within the same organization. Daimler AG has shares in Aston Martin and as a top engineer Cowell could expand his professional career there.
It wouldn't be the first man to make the switch from Mercedes to Aston Martin. Tobias Moers has already made the switch to become the new CEO of the legendary brand from England. Whether Cowell will make the switch is still unclear, but after Wolff bought shares in Aston Martin, the Brackley team seems to be transferring more personel to Aston Martin.
