The Grand Prix of Belgium is on the calendar for August 30th, but everything is uncertain at the moment because of the corona virus. It will take some time before the end of August is near, but there is a good chance that the race will be postponed as well. The government has announced new measures and that covers a period in which the Belgian Grand Prix will also fall.
No sports events
In order to limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus as much as possible, it is currently not possible to organise sporting events in Belgium. During a consultation of the National Security Council of Belgium, it was decided that no sporting events should take place in the country until September 2020.
The Belgian Grand Prix is therefore just covered by these new measures, since this decision is in force until 31 August. Initially, this measure was already in place, but then until 3 May. So there was no reason for concern, but that has changed with this new measures. The circuit and Formula 1 have not yet officially reacted.
Behind closed doors
Should the Belgian Grand Prix also be postponed, this will make the calendar even more complicated. Another option is to drive the race behind closed doors, but that is not profitable for a large part of the races.
