Coronavirus: Could Chinese and Russian races swap?

Coronavirus is one of the biggest talking points in sport right now, with several sporting events in China already being cancelled due to the outbreak of the virus. Over 300 people have been killed by the virus, thought to have started in Wuhan. UPDATE BELOW.

Formula E have cancelled their race in Sanya and F1 could be likely to do the same, although Swiss publication Speed Week has suggested that the Chinese GP could switch position with the race in Russia.

The Russian GP is set to take place on the 27 September, and with Japan following it, the Chinese GP would not look out of place.

It is likely the coronavirus outbreak will have finished by September, so it is logistically possible, although organisers of the Russian even may not be too keen.

It would likely affect ticket sales at the Russian race, so there is still plenty of work to be done if this can be made realistic.

Hopefully we get to see a Chinese GP this year, at the planned date or otherwise.
