Sergio Perez has been given a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix after a gearbox change following a hit with the barriers during FP3.

Perez ran wide in the third sector and slammed his rear left into the wall, causing damage to his wheel and he needs a gearbox change, triggering the five place penalty.

The Mexican has finished P6 and P7 in the most recent two races and has a good record in Singapore, scoring points in every visit in F1, aside from last season, where he clashed with teammate Esteban Ocon and the Williams of Sergey Sirotkin.

However, now he will be under pressure to score points again, as he will start five places down from wherever he qualifies this afternoon.
